Mission: To collaborate with healthcare stakeholders to decrease morbidity, mortality, and the financial impact of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, and sepsis. Through comprehensive analysis of statewide registries, we initiate data-driven process improvement efforts specific to our state's healthcare needs. We support hospitals, EMS agencies, and communities by establishing and promoting evidence-based standard care guidelines and integrated systems of care (SOC) for various acute emergencies, ensuring the best possible care for every Mississippi resident.
Vision: Improve the health status of Mississippians.
Pillars: (Our four Pillars of focus include: education, marketing, community, and networking.)
Our mission is to help hospitals, EMS agencies and communities. We have helped them by creating the STEMI System of Care (SOC), Stroke SOC, Cardiac Arrest Collaborative, and most recently, the Sepsis Collaborative, to provide standard care guidelines to reduce mortality, morbidity, and financial strains.
MHCA provides funding for numerous activities to reduce mortality, morbidity, and the financial burden in the State of Mississippi due to cardiovascular disease, stroke and sepsis.
- Education of all healthcare providers who care for STEMI, Stroke, Cardiac Arrest, and Sepsis patients through MHCA symposiums, and quarterly meetings.
- Paramedic and EMT grants that provide scholarships and training for EMS students
- Funding for Advanced Stroke Life Support Certification for EMS and hospitals
- Funding for technology platforms to improve efficiency of STEMI, Sepsis, and Stroke activations, such as Pulsara to quickly diagnose and treat patients these emergencies
- We also fund artificial intelligence software for CT imaging to quickly diagnosis strokes.
- Registry funding for several registries is used to track MS patient outcomes, including Stroke, STEMI, and cardiac arrest patients.
- CPR in schools: MHCA paid for CPR kits for the AHA to train teachers and faculty how to teach high school students to be trained on CPR.
- Mississippi continues to receive national recognition for MHCA’s work.
